Interior Health Announces
Turbidity Education and Notification Campaign

The Interior Health Authority has announced a new Turbidity Education and Notification Campaign. In a news release issued March 9, 2006, the Senior Medical health Officer, Dr. Paul Hasselback, explains that all water systems in the Interior Health Region with over 300 connections are required to issue a “water quality advisory” when turbidity levels in the water supply exceed 1 NTU.

To date IH has provided water suppliers with media points to use in discussion with inquiries from local media and has informed us a “Water Suppliers Tool Kit” will be available March 22, 2006. IH also indicate a workshop will be held in early May to assist water suppliers in using the toolkit. We are informed a list of frequently asked questions will be available shortly and we will do our best to provide that, and other information about this initiative, as it becomes available from Interior Health.
